Lack of Sleep – The Obvious Symptoms

Sleeping is one of the most important processes which the body needs to function well. However, there are times when people have a hard time falling asleep at night. Even worst, there are times when someone may be awake the whole night, tossing and turning. The following day these people will usually feel drowsy and have trouble performing their daily activities.

But what are the real symptoms of people who are suffering from lack of sleep? Are the symptoms very serious or can they still be treated? What are the things which must be done in order to easily fall asleep at night? To answer these questions, let’s look at some of the symptoms of poor sleep.

Irritability

Irritability is the number one symptom of people who lack sleep. People who do not have a good night’s sleep are usually irritable the next day. They get angry easily and sometimes snap at their loved ones and friends.

Variable Appetite

People who are suffering from a lack of sleep usually experience appetite variations. There are times when they feel like they are not really hungry and there are also times when they want to eat a lot. Thus, gaining or losing great weight is probable with people who lack sleep.

Fatigue

People who lack sleep seem to be chronically fatigued. They experience a constant feeling of being exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally. This occurs because not getting enough sleep can make the body as well as mind tired.

Lack of Concentration

Lack of sleep can also result in a lack of concentration. There are times when people who lack sleep can not seem to perform even simple things effectively. In fact, concentrating, coming up with an idea, or performing basics tasks well are somewhat difficult to do for people who have not gotten enough sleep.

Memory Loss

Memory loss is another symptom of people who are lacking sleep. They can not recall events which happened a few minutes or hours ago. This is due to the fact that their mind is tired because it did not get enough rest which it needs in order to function well.

The symptoms mentioned above are just some of the obvious symptoms of people who suffer from a lack of sleep. People need to be aware of these symptoms to determine if they are suffering from a sleeping disorder. If sleepless nights are affecting your daily routine, it is time to start looking for help in getting better sleep. By sleeping better you will not only be happier, but also healthier.
